Request serviceFairfield's location along the Kennebec River and its mix of residential and commercial properties mean there's always potential for pest activity. We serve Fairfield homes, apartments, and businesses with thorough inspections and effective treatments.
The Kennebec side and the commercial strip toward Waterville are two different jobs. Apartments and food service get the cockroach protocol. Houses get general pest and rodents.
Fairfield is the bridge between Waterville and Skowhegan. We are in this corridor constantly.
If you are calling from Oakland or Clinton, those pages match those streets. This one is for Fairfield addresses.
Fairfield was settled in 1774 and grew up around a 34-foot drop in the Kennebec River. The water power ran sawmills, planing mills and textile plants in the village once called Kendall's Mills, and the town also includes Fairfield Center, Hinckley and Shawmut. That history left Fairfield with the oldest housing in this group of towns. Census estimates for 2020 to 2024 put about 24 percent of its roughly 3,000 homes before 1940 and about 36 percent before 1960.
Older village homes and mill-era apartments usually have the same weak spots: rubble or brick foundations, shared walls, old utility runs and basements that stay damp next to the river. Mice get in along the sill and then move between units through the walls. Carpenter ants look for wood that has been wet for years, such as porch posts, sills under old gutters and window frames. Unlike the lake towns nearby, Fairfield has very few seasonal homes, so most of these pests are living in buildings people use every day.
About 18 percent of Fairfield's homes are mobile homes, which have their own mouse problem where the skirting meets the ground. The Kennebec and its low banks add mosquitoes in summer. Somerset County's Lyme disease rate reached about 345 cases per 100,000 people in 2024, according to Maine CDC. Fairfield was also on the Maine Forest Service's 2023 list of browntail moth towns.

Devin is wonderful! Prompt and professional. While it appears there is no problem, he put out some traps to monitor the situation which gave me some peace of mind. I highly recommend Campbell's Pest Control and will always use them in the future.
