Sidney was incorporated in 1792, but most of its homes are recent. Census Bureau estimates put the median build year at 1996, and only about 8 percent of homes predate 1940. The town had 1,518 housing units in 2000 and roughly 2,100 in the latest estimates. Much of that growth went onto wooded lots between Augusta and Waterville.
