Pest Control in Unity, Maine

What pest control looks like in Unity

A small rural town with a tight community, Unity sees its share of pest challenges — from ants and spiders in older homes to rodents seeking shelter during Maine winters. We deliver effective, environmentally conscious pest control to the Unity area.

Older village homes and rentals are the usual Unity calls: ants, spiders, and mice when the heat kicks on. In shared buildings we treat the unit that called and say if neighbors should be checked.

Rural lots toward Burnham and Freedom add ticks. Those are yard treatments.

Waldo County is the edge of the regular list with Burnham and Clinton. Morning calls help us build that loop from Palmyra.

Unity: Quaker farm town, fairground and Waldo County tick country

Quakers settled Unity as Twenty-Five Mile Pond Plantation, named for its distance from Fort Halifax in Winslow, and it was incorporated in 1804. The town later relied on chicken farming, and Unity College opened in 1965 partly because that industry was declining. Today MOFGA's 200-acre grounds and the Common Ground Country Fair, which draws more than 50,000 visitors a year, are the town's best-known landmarks.

That farm history still shows up in the buildings. Old poultry barns, sheds and farmhouses are hard to seal because they have long sill lines, loose boards and feed or bedding that mice and rats will happily move into. Census estimates for 2020 to 2024 put the town's median home at 1983, and about 12 percent of homes were built before 1940. Around 15 percent are seasonal, many of them near Unity Pond, whose only outlet is Twentyfive Mile Stream. Sandy Stream and Halfmoon Stream add wet ground where mosquitoes breed.

Unity is in Waldo County, which Maine CDC reported at about 608 Lyme disease cases per 100,000 people in 2024, more than two and a half times the statewide rate. Unity is also one of the places the Maine Forest Service monitors browntail moth caterpillars. The town was on the state's 2023 list of towns with significant populations, and although numbers fell in 2024 and 2025, Waldo County still has local pockets.
